Okay, I figured out the issue after doing a bit of research. The c2924c-XL-EN only works on layer 2. This means that I can't really do much in the way of IP routing, so I can't designate ip addresses to interfaces

Oh yes, I have deleted my IOS a few times. I usually just leave it copying over night. good times, good times...

Yeah, I'm thinking I'm going to make copies of those IOS' and store them in a couple places. Just in case.
