The replacement of books for three big TVs reminded me wayyy too much of a book I read in high school lit and can't remember for the life of me D=. It was a sci-fi... and there were big TVs that covered the whole wall... Brave New World? I fail.

I personally can't read books online, textbook or otherwise, so I think paper books will persevere for that reason at least, however saddening it may be. And damn, I want that library!

I believe the book you're talking about is Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury.

Quite possibly. I've read a few too many of this type so they're all blended together in my memory XD.

I've read as few of these type as possible, so each one I'm forced to read sticks out, haha. I didn't even make it all the way through Fahrenheit 451, now that I think about it...

I'm much more of an Austenite :D

This makes me cry. Whyyyyy would you replace books with TELEVISION? It seems like the death of intelligence via colorful flashing images and caffeine. I love books - real books with leather bindings and old-school uneven pages, or even paperbacks that I've worn to the point where the front cover is falling off and I can thumb to my favorite point easily because the book will naturally open to that spot, and the pages are soft at the ends because I've read it so much. Plus, what can beat the smell of a new book?

There's something special about ink on paper, and the idea that a school got rid of their library makes me go "...REALLY?"

Also, I hope you feel better soon bb :/ UTI's are no fun at all. Shall I send Basch over with cranberry juice? XD

I have to agree with you. I *adore* books, not just their contents, but the books themselves, physically. ♥ It makes me sad how people are slowly beginning to regard books as obsolete. TV will never replace books for me dammit. D:

Death of books? Not if I can help it! I, like you, love to go to the bookstore and thumb through new discoveries. My favorite bookstore is in Downtown Seattle. It's complete with creaky wood floors and that nice book smell. :3
