... It's hard to tell when he's being serious, but I'm sure he'd be happy to claim some more lives if he had the chance. He's certainly getting enough volunteers.

And I wouldn't be surprised to find out he was working with the woman who started it. They aren't showing their hands, but they have all the leverage around here. You can't really trust them to have our best interests.

...

If you want us to check it out, I'll go. It's probably worth keeping an eye on.

He does strike me as untrustworthy. Although it wouldn't rule out the possibility that his interests may, from time to time, coincide with others.

I'm still wondering what prompted this change in mind.

Wait and see.

Wait for what?

... I don't know what he's thinking, but he's probably hoping to make some allies out of this. And he might just get them if nobody goes along to talk some sense into them.

Whether it's worth checking out.

...Is it just me, or do you get the feeling we're caught in some war for souls or some other equally nebulous concept that equates humans to batteries?

How has Nuadoria been treating you? Especially given the current turn of events?

It's... gone surprisingly better than I anticipated with this latest crisis. There have been relatively few injured that I have seen.

However, I'm sure you know that there is still quite a lot of work left to do.

[innocently] And how is Sephiroth?

I'm not even sure I quite grasp the full extent of the work that needs to be done, but I think it's quite clear that no one-party can achieve it on their own...

I'm checking up on his 'price' now. We'll see how reasonable it is, and if he's willing to take substitutions.

No commitments without getting the okay from you first. Playing wounded bird isn't very good if there's no way to back it up.

Any news on that front?

He said he just wants the chance to be friends. I'm taking that with a generous helping of salt.

[Dryly, but very slightly humoured.] Friends. I see.

[And back to business] Do you have an estimate of the number of people who are taking him up on his offer?
