Ack! Ladies, how do you feel about male gynecologists? I have to have my annual checkup in the next two weeks for reasons I will disclose very shortly, hopefully, and my girl Ida is out of town. The only doc they could fit me with was a man. Richard James. (Richard D. James? Shudder.)

I've only flashed my snatch for one male doctor before, and it ( Read more... )

you can tell her vivian in the band mommy and daddy sent you! she'll remember even though i only go once a year (or less, oops).

also she's unnervingly pretty but that's just not important.

I use a dude for a gyno and he is *okay* and I have really liked him up until last year when we tried to put me on the Ring to help balance out my hormones, which were totally whack. When I told him that it was making my knees hurt and I felt bubbling and he totally dismissed me I was like, "L8R!" and I haven't been to a gyno in a year now. I don't mind dudes and stuff but please, don't dismiss me when I'm telling you I have signs that match the prescription warning, Holmes.

After that I looked at holistic communities regarding hormone regulation and that has been more helpful than bc (primrose, dong quai, etc.)

well yeah, i didn't include this in my above description, but the doc i was seeing was a urologist, and i was going because i'd been having recurring, acute bladder infections. and he sat there and told me a lot of women 'think they have an infection' but really it's just anxiety. i.e., there there silly girl, this is all in your head, see, there's this thing we doctors call s-c-i-e-n-c-e... then i asked if he had any idea why i had infections correlating with my cycle and he said, 'well, there's just a lot going on down there during that time.' OHHHH thank you, that makes much sense.

then there was the infamous vagina-stutter and "embarrassing" comment, and i was like F U 4EVA.

so. but i don't actually have any issues or questions i need to ask, i just need a basic checkup, so i guess it's fine.

i've never been to a male gyno, but i would do it in a pinch. i would just tell myself that they look at them every day, so it's not a big deal if they see one more. i REALLY wouldn't like it if they dismissed ANYTHING i said about what's going on though, fuck that.
you should ask jamie about the drive-thru pap test they had up there a few years back... ;)
