OH my God M! Wow I am so glad you were there when this happened and you had someone there to help you hold her down. She's damn lucky she didn't swallow her tongue.
OhMY God, I am so sorry you and your beloved pooch had to go thro that - I hope the vet can find out what the hell happened.
I'm so sorry about your dog. I feel your pain and send you hugs.
I haven't blogged about it, but my senior age cat has been suffering seizures the past couple of weeks. It's never happened before with Charlotte so I have been really scared. He's on a new thyroid medication, which ironically is supposed to suppress seizures in cats, so the vet and I are still not sure if he had seizures that were coincidental or that were some strange side affect of the medication. I suspect that Charlotte is just a lot older than I realized.
I hope that the both of us don't have to go through the experience again. It's really scary. Both times I was worried that I was seeing the last of my best friend. : (
Oh, dear. I really hope that is it. Willie suffered from them but they were so irratic and mild (zoning out, tipping over and shaking for 45 secs or so) that I did not pursue a difinitive diagnosis.
I did catch one on tape which was a big help as it ruled out a stroke (bilateral peralisis) and the vets confirmed that is was indeed considered mild. As with Midnight, it totally perplexed them.
They also told me that if he was off leash, he may have eaten some trash containing toxic mold spores. If I really wanted to be certain that was not it, I was told to keep him on leash at all times (which was unthinkable as my babies gotta roam!)
What else... oh, he did die a bit early for a terrier (11 yrs.) but it was due to cancer.
Oh, he had them (that I noticed) about 5xs a year, fyi.
It is not the end of the world as even if it is full blown epilepsy, there is meds but here is hoping for the absolute best!

She's been fine since. The bloodwork came back mostly normal, just some trace mineral deficiencies which we can fix w/a supplement and diet.
Thanks for the hugs! *hugs you back*

Is he hypo or hyper thyroid? There are some natural remedies that can help support the meds.
