“I stared across the meadow. There were groves of trees, a winding stream, acres of strawberries spread out under the blue sky…”
Sungmin smiled and leaned back against Kyuhyun as the younger man enthusiastically read from The Lightning Thief, a children’s story he had borrowed from their friend Donghae only days ago.
He felt completely at ease, Kyuhyun’s voice like a soothing drug to his stressed nerves, the younger boy rubbing his belly affectionately.
He couldn’t believe how beautiful the younger’s voice was, even though all he was doing was reading a book.
He sighed, contented, and snuggled further back into Kyuhyun’s chest.
“… I was expecting apple juice. It wasn’t that at all. It was chocolate-chip cookies. Liquid cookies. And not just…”
Sungmin smiled a bit wider and closed his eyes. He would like to eat cookies right about now.
He rubbed his stomach, right above the pronounced bump in his abdomen, his hands brushing against Kyuhyun’s.
When the doctor told him he was pregnant, he had though that he was pulling a cruel joke. It was April first when they had gotten the news. But here he was, six months later, with a huge stomach, listening to his boyfriend reading to their unborn child.
Sungmin yawned and stretched- to the best of his ability- narrowly missing Kyuhyun’s cheek when his fists went flying up.
Kyuhyun stopped reading to look at the older man, startled.
Sungmin looked up sheepishly at Kyuhyun, “Sorry, Honey.”
Kyuhyun smiled sweetly at Sungmin and put the book down so he could kiss his boyfriend.
Kyuhyun kissed Sungmin tenderly pulling gently at his bottom lip, making the elder giggle.
Sungmin gasped abruptly and pulled away from the kiss. He put on a painful look and clutched at his stomach.
“What’s wrong?!” Kyuhyun asked, panicked.
Sungmin looked up to Kyuhyun again, a pout on his face. “He kicked me.”
The younger man let out a soft laugh before turning Sungmin around in his lap and kissing him again.
“Well, if that’s all, we should continue where we left off.”
They kissed again, lazy and sweet. Small noises fluttered out in between butterfly kisses.
Sungmin wrapped his arms around Kyuhyun’s neck and the younger man pulled him in as much as his stomach allowed.
Sungmin winced again before pulling away. Kyuhyun laughed and looked down at Sungmin’s stomach, which was pressed up against his abdomen softly. “I felt that!” He announced, wide grin on his face as he felt at the spot where he felt the baby kick.
“But why does he keep kicking all of a sudden?” Sungmin sighed.
Kyuhyun shushed him as the younger man pressed his ear against Sungmin’s stomach.
“Ah!” Sungmin sighed again, as the baby kicked him again, twice.
Kyuhyun looked up at Sungmin with an expression of a child who had just missed the ice-cream truck. “I didn’t feel it!”
Sungmin laughed at the cute expression on his boyfriends face. He took Kyuhyun’s hand in his and placed it on his stomach, then he told him to be quiet.
Kyuhyun grinned when he felt the little thump against his palm.
“He likes your voice.” Sungmin said softly. “He gets upset when he can’t hear it.”
Kyuhyun raised an eyebrow at his boyfriend. “Oh? And how would you know?”
Sungmin smiled a cheeky grin, “Mother’s intuition.”
