Summary: Sooyoung never hesitates to use her long legs as an advantage to pick on Sunny. And frankly, it gets tiring.
Sunny glares at the cereal boxes sitting on the top shelves of the kitchen cabinets. Out of reach.
Letting out a frustrated scream, the singer kicks the counter. Who’s bright idea was it to put all the cereal on the top shelf?! Better yet, who’s idea was it to stick her Cocoa Puffs on the top shelf?!
The small girl sighs before tiptoeing to try reaching the infernal box again. She sticks her tongue out in concentration, grinning when he fingers brushed the edge of the box.
Suddenly, an arm reaches over her and swipes the box of Cocoa Puffs from under her fingertips.
The shorter girl watches with her mouth hanging open as Sooyoung dumps the contents of the box into her bowl before munching at the chocolaty treat.
Sooyoung, as if noticing Sunny for the first time- how do you not notice a girl killing herself trying to reach a box of cereal?!- looks at her with a questioning stare, “What is it?”
“You ate my Cocoa Puffs!”
“Oh, you wanted some?” Sooyoung smiles a little too innocently before taking another spoonful of cereal.
Sunny picks up the now-in-reach box of cereal and tips it over into her bowl. Empty.
Sooyoung feigns a sympathetic look, “Better luck next time.” The taller girl ruffles Sunny's hair before skipping out of the kitchen.
“It’s not fair! Just because I’m short!” Sunny kicks up Jessica’s blankets from her body in frustration. “Why can’t I be taller?!” She cries.
Jessica doesn’t look up from her phone as she answers, “Don’t worry, Hun. Sooyoungie’s like that.”
Sunny pouts at Jessica and is about to retort when Sooyoung bursts into the room. “‘Sica, Tiffany’s calling you!” She yells before jumping on top of Jessica’s bed and in turn, on Sunny.
Jessica pouts before sighing and heading for the door, disregarding Sunny's strangled cries for help. “What!?” She yells before disappearing into the corridor.
“Sooyoung, get off!” Sunny gasps, pushing Sooyoung by her back. “You’re killing me!”
Sooyoung gets off of Sunny and pulls her into a sitting position, patting her back lightly. “Sorry. Am I that heavy?”
“Yes!” Sunny gasps out.
Sooyoung smiles sheepishly, “Sorry.”
“Oh my god! That’s so cute!”
Sunny and Sooyoung are shopping when she erupts into a fit of squeals.
“What?!” Sunny asks, tugging at the taller girl’s sleeve. “I can’t see!” Sunny tries to look over the crowd of people surrounding them, but in vain.
“Look look! It’s so cute!” By now, Sooyoung is squealing and jumping in place at whatever the cute thing is. “Can’t you see it?!”
Sunny struggles to see over the crowd, but she can’t make out whatever it is Sooyoung is pointing at.
Sooyoung sighs after a while. “Never mind. It’s gone.”
Sunny pouts and has a look on like she’s about to cry. “Sooyoungie!”
The rest of the trip, Sooyoung gushes about how she’s seen the cutest thing ever to Sunny. Sunny's jealous.
“I swear she was doing it on purpose! To make me feel bad!” Sunny pulls at Hyoyeon's stuffed sheep, making the girl fuss over the safety of its stuffing from across the room. “She didn’t have to keep talking about it!” After one more hard tug, Hyoyeon pulls the plush toy from Sunny's grasp.
“I get it! You’re mad at Sooyoung! So go hit her, why do you have to take it out on Mr. Fuzzies?!”
Sunny pouts and looks away from the dancer, her nose twitching in annoyance. “Some friend you are.” She mumbles.
Hyoyeon's eyes narrow and she points with one finger towards the door. “Out.”
“You know, when someone picks on you, it means they like you.” Seohyun says while Sunny is grumbling on one end of the couch. She’s sitting at the other end with a book in her hand, reading, not looking a bit like she was paying attention to Sunny's complaining.
Sunny pouts at the magnae only to get a short, “Don’t look at me like that, Unnie. Your aegyo doesn’t work on me.” After that Sunny pulls her mouth into a straight line, trying hard not to pout.
“Sooyoung picks all the short girls.” Sunny huffs, crossing her arms over her shoulder.
“She picks on you the most.” Seohyun told her straightly, flipping the page of her book.
Sunny pouts- she tries not to but it’s an instinct after a while, “Well, Yoona picks on everyone a lot too! What does that mean?”
Seohyun doesn’t looks up from her book as she answers, making Sunny wonder how she did it. “Yoona is a prankster. She does it for the kicks. Picking on someone is one thing but replacing your conditioner or cutting holes into your favourite pajama pants are something totally different.”
Sunny's eyes widen in curiosity. She shuffles closer to the magnae, lying on her stomach and looking up at the girl with her head in her hands. “Yoona never picks on you. What does that mean?”
For the first time, Seohyun looks up from her book, a distinct blush on her face. She gives Sunny a shy look before hiding her face in the book she’s reading.
Sunny grinned at the magnae’s clumsy antics. At least she acts her age when it counts.
They’re all eating dinner together when Sunny feels Sooyoung place her long legs on her knees. Sunny glares across the table. Sooyoung doesn’t look at her and talks animatedly to Yuri beside her instead.
Sunny huffs and opens her legs quickly, making Sooyoung's feet fall from her knees, heels banging the chair audibly on their way down to the floor. Sooyoung winces at the impact, and Sunny smiles, accomplished, before taking a bite of her food.
“What’s wrong?” Yuri asks at Sooyoung's pained expression. Sunny glares at her. “Don’t you dare worry about her!” she thought, “She’s the enemy!”
“It’s nothing.” Sooyoung tells her.
Sunny chokes on her food when Sooyoung kicks her from under the table. She coughs at the feeling of food being lodged in her windpipe. Tiffany instantly gets up beside her and pats her back frantically while Taeyeon hands her a glass of water from across the table.
“Are you okay?!” Tiffany asks her, but Sunny doesn’t respond. Instead she glares at Sooyoung-who sticks her tongue out at her in response- and tries to kick the girl back. Sunny lets out a high-pitched whine when she realizes her legs don’t reach the other side of the table.
“What’s wrong?!” Tiffany asks her frantically, thinking that her band mate is in some sort of pain.
From the other end of the table, Seohyun shakes her head disapprovingly towards them. “I’m telling you, she likes you.”
All the heads turn towards the magnae with questioning looks on their face. “They’re playing footsies under the table.” She tells them shortly before continuing to chew at her food, kind of creeped out by the attention she was getting. Sooyoung glares at the girl like she had just tattled on her.
“We weren’t playing footsies.” She defends stubbornly. Though she had a slight flush on her face at the idea.
“Yea, we weren’t.” Sunny agrees. “Sooyoung was kicking me!”
Sooyoung gasps at Sunny, “Only ‘cause you made me bang my feet against the chair!”
“Well you used my lap as a foot stool!”
Taeyeon sighs into the suddenly loud dining room. “Will you two shut up.”
Sooyoung falls silent, although looking reluctant about it. Sunny's nose twitches in annoyance at Sooyoung, but she quiets as well.
The leader looks from one girl to the other. She sighs. “You’re hopeless you know, Sooyoung? Didn’t we already have this talk? It’s not good to make fun of anyone, no matter how much you’re in ‘like’ with them.” Taeyeon scolds the tall girl, quoting her own words.
“Exactly!” Sunny yells. “You shouldn’t pick on me just because you’re in- what?!” She cuts her own words of to look shocked at the leader, then at Sooyoung.
Sooyoung pouts, a pink blush on her face. She points her spoon at Sunny in embarrassment. “Just be quiet and eat.”
Sunny doesn’t mind doing just that.
Sunny‘s struggling to reach the boxes of cereal again the next morning when Sooyoung comes over and pulls it down and into reach, hanging it just in front of Sunny's hands. Sunny smiles and thanks the taller girl before grabbing for the box, but Sooyoung pulls it out of reach once again.
Sunny huffs, “This is getting old Sooyoung.” Sooyoung sticks her tongue out at the older girl before pouring the cereal into a bowl and putting it back on the shelf.
Sunny looks up aghast at the box, now sitting back on the shelf.
She opens her mouth to yell at the taller singer when a spoon is shoved into her mouth.
Sunny stands there startled with chocolate cereal sitting in her mouth and it isn’t until Sooyoung rolls her eyes and tells her to chew that she does.
“Good,” Sooyoung says in a voice she should be using on a baby, “now swallow.” Sunny does as she’s told and Sooyoung points another spoonful of cereal at her mouth. “Now ahh~”
Once again, Sunny opens her mouth and Sooyoung put the spoonful into her mouth.
Yoona walks in at one point and comments on how “The level of mushiness you’re displaying can’t be good for your brains” before walking away slightly disturbed, but Sunny decides that Sooyoung babying her is better than getting picked on any day. Especially when she gets her Cocoa Puffs
