About Guriel

Appearance: To most human eyes, Guriel looks like a dark-haired, dark-eyed young man in his late teens or very early twenties. He dresses casually (usually in jeans and layered shirts), wears his hair long and somewhat unruly, and has a tendency to slouch.

Though he keeps his wings out of sight when passing for human, Guriel's quite proud of them and it doesn't take much to get him to show them off. The feathers are very slightly off-white, and have light grey and brown markings similar to those of a falcon (like this).

Guriel is on the small side for an angel, being both shorter than average and slightly built. Like most angels, he's a lot stronger than he looks, but he's built more for speed and agility than he is brute force. The way he moves and the way he fights both reflect that. When necessary in battle, he wields a short sword in the form of a Pompeii gladius. When he's fighting he often lets the illusion of his human appearance slip around the edges; the change is more a matter of power than a shift in physical attributes, but when caught up in battle, he tends to look a lot bigger, older, and more intense than he normally does.

Personality: Guriel prides himself on being his Dad's lion, and his personality pretty much reflects that. He's brash, stubborn, impulsive, and has a tendency to overestimate his own strength. He's got a quick temper that's easily riled by anyone insulting his Father, his Father's creation, or his family, and his method of coping with disappointment, sorrow, and loss usually involves wreaking violence on defenseless chunks of the landscape (or demons, if he can manage to pick a fight -- and he usually can).

Despite his temper and his reckless streak, Guriel also has a tender heart and a strong, somewhat impish sense of humor. His bouts of bad temper and moodiness rarely last long -- in a fight and in general, it's hard to keep Guriel down. With his family and friends he's devoted, affectionate, and occasionally a bit of a brat. He loves humankind, regarding them with a fierce protectiveness grounded in his nature as a Guardian as well as with a kind of awe at their capacity for goodness and ingenuity. Intensely proud of his Father and his Father's creation, he'll take almost any opportunity to brag about both (there's a deep-seated streak of "My Dad's better than your Dad" at work there). While he's also proud of the Host and his place and Duty among them, he's stubbornly unwilling to accept any show of deference for himself; even being called "Sir" by polite strangers makes him uncomfortable.

Abilities: Guriel can fly, and can also Move himself and one or two other people from one place to another instantaneously. He can make his wings visible or invisible at will, and can do the same to himself (although he rarely does so). He's stronger than he looks, and can take an enormous amount of physical damage without letting it stop him. He can communicate wordlessly with his brothers as well as with most human beings, although he can't read human thoughts in return. He has a certain limited amount of angelic power to affect the physical world around him (destroying objects or pulling them to himself from elsewhere, for example). When he has Orders or his Duty otherwise requires it, he can sometimes temporarily draw on larger stores of power, but as a rule his ability to do this is quite limited.

Though he doesn't require food or drink to survive, Guriel is still enormously fond of them; sampling the various foods humanity comes up with is one of his favorite parts of traveling. He's especially fond of apple pie, black coffee with a lot of sugar, and doner kebab.

Mun note: Muse is asexual and technically genderless, so not so much with the shipping. Any other questions? Please don't hesitate to ask!
