My things just seem to have gone missing, but any magic I try to cast is stupidly weak. Maybe the magic's gone dormant in it?

I cannot actually cast without its assistance--humans in my world are incapable of directly employing magic, and instead must rely on items imbued with power.

As for the item in question...it's...not quite the same as that. It contains a spirit, which is more the reason for my concern.

Chances are it's gone dormant, really. There doesn't seem to be enough magic energy in this place to sustain any sort of magic I've seen.

So it would seem. It is a small gem--round in shape, green in color--and it ordinarily glows from within, though now that glow is severely reduced in intensity.

It is concerning, as the gem is the physical form of a spirit--I am worried that I cannot feel its presence as sharply.

It seems they can affect spiritual beings as well. My own power was limited. I still haven't tested it, but I doubt I can revert to my original form now.

Just one. It is a partnership of sorts, I suppose, though admittedly one that benefits me far more.

I am, at least for the moment, one of a group of warriors in my world called dragoons, or dragon knights.
