lately I've been a alittled weirded out by the whole thing. and I do mean the whole thing, not just atheism, but religion, agnostic, and atheism.
probably because I feel, have felt or personally had dealing with the other side etc. atheist may just be atheist because they haven't had a chance to see or feel what I have. I'm certainly not religious but I'm spiritual and I believe in a core and spirtual realm.
i may feel that atheist are a little shut out, and if they were to open themselves up a little bit they would understand a little more.
It's shaping up to be an odd cultural war; unreasonable and unnecessary.
I've had dealings with good and bad folk on all sides, and they really are not all that different from each other, despite their respective pretentions. We're all just human, really.
Okay, am I being dense here? Does this mean that everyone who does not believe in a Judeo-Christian God is bad? That's what this insomnia person is saying.
I don't think that belief or not makes anyone inherently bad or good. Bad or good depends on an individual's actions, not a professed belief system.
Or, are you just pointing out an incendiary post to see what people say?
Not especially. I didn't read much past the post and the first two or three comments.
My husband is an atheist. I'm not. We've discussed both of our viewpoints and, amazingly enough, they aren't that different. Not when you peel off the baggage of perception. He believes in the world. I believe in the same world, only our ideas of how it began are different.
You have, as usual, defined things much better than I ever could.
How are YOU these days? Haven't see much of you for eons.
Atheism is too often kneejerk superficiality wrapped in fake logical superiority, much as religion is too often kneejerk superficiality wrapped in fake moral superiority.
Damn that's well put. I'm gonna borrow that one and change it around a bit so I can use it on the radio ;-)
