My friends list will probably be purged soon. It's just gotten too large; I do LJ- stuff in the morning usually, in a limited window of time.

I don't defriend as judgement, and I don't mean to step on toes, but it seems such things are inevitable.

Don't take it personally...

I say it because I mean it.

My f'list is a reflection of me- my moods, my current preferences, and my resources. There are a few people who have been on and off my f'list for years, depending on whether I feel like reading what they write.

So folks who write mainly frivolous stuff may get defriended when I go through a serious navel-gazing phase. My medical groups got deleted when I decided that I really had a glut of medical stuff in my life.

My mood changed, not any objective assessment of their worthiness.

Heh....as an interesting and philosophically-bent LJ friend might point, there is *always* some kind of judgement involved in making decisions....

True.

But it's not necessarily a judgement of the person as an individual, their worth, etc, etc- and it's that sort of judgement that I am disclaiming.

I always feel bad about removing people from my friends list. Sometimes it's because it's the last bit of contact I really have with them - if I take them off my friends list, I will probably lose touch with them altogether. That's probably why I have so many people on my list that I have so little in common with.
