More Tokyo stuff:
The second day of Tokyo started in the Yokohama area with a small earthquake at about 7 in the morning (after having stayed up until about 4:30 or so...which made for 24 hours of no sleep for me). Um I think I just ended up sleeping in late and hanging around with Ashley until the late-ish afternoon, after which time I headed into the Tokyo area. I met up with a friend from online and we hung out and then I had to find a hotel (since his roommates wouldn't let me crash at their place...wheee for xenophobic Japanese people XD). Stayed at a Toyoku inn (a chain of "cheap" hotels across Japan. I use the word cheap somewhat loosely because cheap is about $70 for one night, which back home in the states I'd laugh at). So that was the total of the second day, hanging out and then going to the hotel to crash pretty hard. I believe this is the point where I started to become ill (which has been hanging around until now >.<).
The next day I checked out of the hotel and went to the Shinjuku. I lockered my stuff in an absolutely idiotic place (that station is huge and I couldn't find any other lockers that weren't INSIDE the ticket gates >.<) and then I went to the bookstore in Takashimaya since they have an entire half floor or so devoted to English stuff so I could actually buy booooooks! I realized while I was there I had left my Tokyo guidebook in my backpack, in my locker. Since it'd cost 4 dollars to get back in to grab it, I figured I'd not waste the 40 minutes it'd take to get back and do that and just buy a new one for 12 dollars. Whatever. I also picked up "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" and "Anansi Boys". I then headed over to the park in Shinjuku (Shinjuku gyoen) and enjoyed the pretty nice weather and reading P&P&Z for a while. I ended up meeting with another net friend and going and having some coffee and hanging out. Then I headed off to my friends place in the Ikebukuro area.
