A man who is leading 2 wars in the middle east got a Nobel peace prize.

Gandhi never got one.

The explaination I have gotten is that the nobel committee doesn't necessarily award the peace prize based on achievement. It is also awarded to people who have the inclination/ability to bring about peace.

In other words, the Nobel committee is giving Obama a gold star to make sure that he continues working towards peaceful resolutions in the world at large. If he doesn't... well, he will look awfully silly.
