Blaine smiled as he handed Kurt his cup of coffee. “For you…”
“Thank you.” Kurt replied, taking a sip from his cup before placing it in the plastic cup holder next to his seat.
Blaine reached through the drive-thru window and grabbed his cup of coffee, placing it in the cup holder adjacent to Kurt’s. A smile escaped his lips as he returned his attention to the road, pulling out of the drive-thru lane and onto the road.
He really loved taking these drives with Kurt. They happened almost every day after Warblers practice - after Blaine had insisted that he drive Kurt back to Lima. Blaine didn’t regard of the fact that his house was over a half-hour away from Dalton…in the opposite direction. Besides, Kurt seemed fine with it, and Blaine certainly didn’t seem to mind. He loved any excuse to spend more time with Kurt. They would just sit there - Blaine at the wheel of his black Toyota convertible, Kurt in the passenger seat - and just talk. Armed with their usual orders of coffee, they would just chat about whatever happened to be on their minds - a funny story from that day’s practice, or Kurt’s friends back at McKinley…just anything. The car radio provided the soundtrack for it all.
As the soaring, anthemic drums of a Florence + The Machine song came to an end, the next song began. It was an annoying, overly-synthesized beat the Blaine had heard a million times before.
“You know you love me,
I know you care.
Just shout whenever,
And I’ll be there…”
Blaine made a face at the radio. “Oh god, I hate this song.” He reached for the volume dial.
“No!” Kurt said suddenly, his hand reaching out to the radio. He glanced at Blaine and took another sip of his coffee. “Let it play.”
Blaine looked at Kurt. “Are you kidding me? This is some of the most obnoxious, auto-tuned ‘music’ out there.” He made finger quotes at the word ’music.’ “It’s a pathetic excuse for a Number One single.”
“I know, I know. I just…I like the lyrics. I think they’re really sweet.”
“Sweet?” Blaine chuckled. “The kid hasn’t even been through puberty yet! He doesn’t know anything about romance.”
“It’s not that, it’s just…” Kurt’s voice trailed off.
“It’s just what?”
Kurt glanced from his cup of coffee to Blaine. “Please don’t judge me, okay?”
“Kurt when have I ever judged you?”
Kurt chuckled. “I…I like pet names, okay? You know…sweetheart, honey,” He eyed the radio, which continued to play the monstrosity of a song. “…baby…any of them, really. I know, it sounds silly, but I find it to be really adorable.”
Blaine smiled. “Really?”
“You think it’s stupid, don’t you?”
“Not at all.” Blaine said with a smile. “I think it’s really cute.”
Kurt smiled, resting his hand on the armrest between them, fingers outstretched. “You’re amazing, you know that?”
Blaine glanced at his boyfriend and smiled. He placed his hand on top of Kurt‘s, their fingers intertwining. “You’re the amazing one...darling.”
Kurt smirked. “Very funny.”
Blaine smiled. “Why, whatever do you mean...honey?”
Kurt chuckled. “Okay, Blaine. You’re clever.”
Blaine turned his eyes back to the road. “Sweetie...which road do I turn on, again? I just can’t seem to remember the name…”
“Blaine, you can stop it now.” Kurt said with a chuckle.
Blaine stopped the car and looked right at his boyfriend. “Look, Kurt. You know I was only teasing you, right? You are the last person I’d ever want to make uncomfortable. I love you….every little thing about you. I love every single little quirk about you. No matter how silly it may seem, it isn’t silly to me. It just makes you…you.” He leaned in towards Kurt.
Kurt bit his lip, a faint smile escaping from them. “I know. I love you too…” He said happily, before adding one last word. “…baby.”
They both chuckled as their lips met
