[The camera doesn't have a view of anything at first, just various blurred views of a garden. Those familiar with the Peony district may be able to recognize that it's Ten-ji. But the camera finally settles on a branch, focusing on a tiny cluster of blooming cherry blossoms.]

[Only then does Kiyoha speak.]It's about damn time. I couldn't have been ( Read more... )

It's just what you were waiting for, wasn't it?

With more anticipation than I could have expected of myself. But it's only a few blossoms here and there. I'll be happier to see the trees in full bloom.

It shouldn't too long, yeah? I'm sure it'll be quite the sight.

I should certainly hope so! If these trees disappoint me, then I'll have to complain to the gardeners for not doing their job correctly. But since they hold a festival here, they would have to be at least passable, one would hope.

[ He laughs. ] Let's hope they don't disappoint, then.

Speaking of festivals... how long of a time period will those parties go on?

It's hard to say. What I've heard from okaa-san seems to imply that they'll last at least two weeks, but I'm not sure if I can completely trust his word, since that may just be his excuse to make me work harder for two weeks.

Hah, well, that may be. But that means I have plenty of time to plan things. [ After a beat. ] --I didn't forget what we talked about, after all.

Nor have I forgotten. Luckily all of my engagements will be in the evening during the festival, so we could go on a viewing during the day time.

Good! I'd hate to have to put any money down to compete with a friend's time. [ Bit of a smirk there. Not that it would stop him from doing so if he had to, but only if people don't get the wrong idea. (Something that's been harder to be sure of, lately.) ]

I would hate that as well! Once money's involved it's harder to really be friends, eh? [She chuckles] Not to say that I'm not friends with some of my regular clients, but it's a very different kind of friendship.

[ Money or other things, but he's not thinking about that. ]

Right, then we'll just have to keep that out of it.

Unless I can treat you to something while we're out. It's the least I can do.

I think that would be acceptable. Perhaps a restaurant that you like? I've been to wary to try Western foods without an experienced Westerner to guide me.

You've been here this whole time and not tried the Italian place? That's a shame, because it's pretty good. [ A thoughtful hum. ] ...though I don't know a whole lot of other options, I'll admit.

But! I'm flexible. [ Read: he'll eat just about anything. ]

I'm too often a woman of habit, and one reluctant to try new things. I would be glad to try Italian if you would tell me what's worth eating. So I suppose we'll go there.

[ A grin. ] Then we'll definitely check it out! Their sauces are what really make the dishes, but I'm sure there will be something that catches your eye, one way or the other.

Sauces? What sorts of sauces are in Italian food?
