How...why?
[The feed starting, however unintentional, with Yuuki bending forward before a window. Clasping at her chest she shakes her head, disbelief fleeting across her expression. She inhales but the breath catches, stopping in her throat. Pain fills her eyes as much as horror.]
She can't have--she wouldn't. All of a sudden her presence just---

Yuuki-
[Dropping what he's doing at the moment, he moves without second thought to the main living area.
He envelopes her into his arms, a warm embrace, just as her legs begin to give way beneath her. Voice solid, but gentle, quiet as he hushes her, his head lowering to hers.]
Yuuki, -please, Yuuki, you need to calm down. Shh...

How can she possibly calm down?]
She's gone.
[Cracking, breath a shaky inhale, her tears wetly stain his shirt as he cradles her to him.]
One minute I felt her presence, and then in the next it just--
[Words break into heartfelt sobs, streaming down her cheeks.]
I wan'st ready. Zero, I wasn't ready!

Actually knowing about what happened to Juri only makes it more difficult.]
I know you weren't.
[Softly. He allows her to fall, supporting her weight while slowly lowering them both to the floor. It's a mess, shattered glass making the floor sparkle, but he doesn't pay any heed to it, sweeping the pieces aside with a hand that quickly returns to her.]
I'm sorry, Yuuki... I'm sorry.
[He hushes her again, huddling close, while gently rocking her in his arms, a hand softly rubbing circles on her back. The scent of her tears continue to stain the air, and make his chest ache]

She clutches the front of his shirt, fingers balling tight within the white fabric, grip firm. The familiarity serves as one of the few comforts she takes full advantage of, however unknowingly. If only a little, the chaotic air surrounding her fades though is still present, like electricity vibrating within the air. Teetering on the cusp of an aftershock, she swallows.]
I don't want to lose any more.
[But a soft, muffled whisper, her voice breaks. Fingers loosening, she releases him long enough to wrap her arms around his body from beneath. He's warm, tangible against her touch when she feels as though all else is slipping away.]
Zero...

All he can to is offer what she gives him in turn. His arms remain around her, secure and reassuring. The state of his shirt, his apartment, none of it matters. If it's a matter of easing her pain, of keeping her warm and safe, he'll do anything. Even if the world begins to crumble around them, he isn't going to let go.]
I'm not going anywhere, Yuuki.
[Quiet, but firm. Raw honesty. He presses a kiss to her temple. The fact that leaving this place isn't under his control is frustrating and painful, but he'll promise her, anyway.
A hand lifts from her back to softly stroke her hair, eyes closing as he continues to hold her, heart splintering.]
...I'm not going anywhere. I'm right here... I promise I'll always be here.

Pulling back just enough to stare at his chest, his shirt is soaked through, salty tears staining it wet. How long have they been like this? She doesn't know, but it's been a while she imagines. Glancing down and away from him she scrubs her eyes, fingers brushing aside the salty liquid that hasn't quite stopped flowing yet despite best efforts.
I'm sorry. [A near whisper, voice low as she speaks]Your apartment...

He dips in as she pulls back a little. One arm slips from around her to clasp at the small hand that's wet with tears, lips pressing soft, gentle kisses to her cheekbones and beneath her eyes, skin so delicate and flushed from her sobs.]
Don't worry about the apartment. That doesn't matter right now, it's okay.
[A quieted reply in turn, his other hand still at her back and within her hair.]

'Doesn't matter', he says.
[Destroying someone's residence is no little thing. Gently she rests her head to the warm skin of his forehead, eyes drifting shut. Her hand within his grasp clasps to hold him in return. Is is healthy, how much she always craves for and wants him. That large portion of her heart solely reserved for him.
I never thought that we could be anything more than enemies...
Things are so different, now. The tiny trail of tears continues down her cheeks, even as she smiles against him.]
I don't understand how it is that even despite myself, I somehow have you by my side.
[Softly she leans forward, inhaling on a shaky breath. Gentle lips press against his mouth, a short kiss that draws searchingly for him. It's painful just how much she can want to consume every inch of him, and yet still want more after. Does he even realize? Just how much he means to her? Is it even possible to express in words ( ... )

He leans in with no hesitation, a gentle nudge in return. There's little he can reply with, although he acknowledges how bittersweet it still can feel. Happiness is fleeting and he desperately wants to both resist, and cling to it with his life. He realizes just how much cynicism this could pull to the surface. She is the one who left, back then. It's infuriating, yet all at once an act that he forced himself to try and accept, to believe: he bid his farewells and kissed her goodbye.
This isn't what he would have predicted. This isn't the scene he could envision, no matter the location.]
It's not what I'm worried over, right now.
