[The woman that graces the screen of the fansuwoth is beautiful.

She's a just shade broad in the shoulders, and perhaps a little tall for a woman..... But still, she's slender and poised, with modestly understated curves, long-fingered artistic hands, a politely subdued smile, and a fair complexion brightened with subtle hints of color from her make ( Read more... )

[At first he's kind of mesmerized by the pretty--if kind of manly...and yet, that turns him on more--woman on the screen, and also her very lovely kimono.

He goes red as a beat when "she" starts stripping and is fumbling with his fansuwoth to turn it off and preserve her dignity--not helped by his nose bleeding--

And realizes he's looking at a man. What. WHAT.]

--The hell?!

[Still blushing, still bleeding, and frankly completely shocked.]

[And Kanji brightens even more, though he fidgets and scrubs at his hair. This feels wonderful and new and so good but he doesn't know how he's supposed to react.]

Be everything I can be... Yeah, I'm trying. Dad said that before he... I didn't understand it for the longest damn time. I got it wrong, but I understand now.

[The way he's looking at Hizashi now is rather like a lost child looking for guidance. Souji fulfilled that role for a while, but now that spot is a vacant, empty hole.]

[Hizashi smiles and bows his head, a lingering moment of silence for a fellow dearly departed father; he understands without asking, and he won't push the matter farther. If this conversation were in person, he might put a hand on Kanji's shoulder; instead, he reaches for a tie to pull his hair back with.]

That's good to hear..... He must be very happy that you took his advice to heart, and that you've learned what it means by your own efforts, however you might've stumbled along the way.

[He actually manages to hold the internal flailing down to a little more fidgeting. There's instant, innocent respect and liking for this man who's name he doesn't even know, but suddenly wants to badly.]

I... I hope he can be proud of me.

[And abruptly, bluntly he changes the topic. Not out of intentional rudeness, but a very late attempt to correct rudeness.]

I'm Tatsumi Kanji. Nice to meet'cha, uh...

I think he already must be. The pleasure is mine, Tatsumi-san; my name is Hyuuga Hizashi.

[The bow he offers is small but formal in spite of being seated, perhaps a leftover from having so recently returned from an engagement.]

[The bow he gives in return is clumsy but earnest, and his smile is adorable.]

Hyuuga-san.

[It sounds like he was almost intending to say Hizashi but changed his mind at the last minute. The next sentence has all the eagerness of a puppy trying to please a new person, or a child trying to please a parent.]

I could make you something! Is there anything you want? Clothes or, uh--

Is it sad that my first thought was the cuteness of the fact that Kanji'd ALWAYS see him wearing it? withmyownwill August 12 2011, 22:04:53 UTC
[He can't help but be pleased at the sight; could any father not be, seeing a child look so happy?]

That sounds more fitting for my brother than myself..... You can call me Hizashi, if you'd like.

[Hizashi considers the eager offer, smiling a little and sweeping his hair back over his shoulders; a thought occurs to him, and he studies himself and his seal in the mirror for a moment.]

Well, I could certainly use a headband.....

D'awwwww socute. Kanji'd just be constantly all aglow whenever he saw it punk_emperor August 12 2011, 22:11:22 UTC
[It's a little hesitant, but he clearly likes the sound.]

Hizashi-san then.

[He'll probably slip up and call him Hyuuga-san sometimes for a while but he just beams.]

Sure! A headband's simple. What color d'ya want? What fabric? Any designs you like?

[Don't mind him. He's babbling.] I could probably stitch gathers so it'd slip on, but maybe one that ties is better...

[A few beats of silence as he considers, but there's an almost playfully knowing look in his eyes when he does answer. A growing boy coming into his own talent and confidence? What better project than something he has complete mastery over?]

Why don't you surprise me? I'm sure you know more about fabric than I do; I'll look forward to seeing something of your own design.

[He's almost bursting with pride and nervousness all at once but very eager to discover something that will be just perfect.]

I will! I'll make you the best damn headband, just you wait.

[He could honestly have an excellent one done before the night is out, but he'll agonize over every stitch so it'll probably be a couple days.]

[Hizashi can't help but laugh at the enthusiasm, nodding his ready agreement.]

I know you will, and I'll be glad to see what you come up with, How often does a tailor get to consult their own tastes, after all, when they're the experts?

Not all the time, but the long-standing clients at the shop know how good Ma is with stuff. [He laughs a little] But yeah, some of the requests from other clients just make you cringe, you know? What were they thinking; it'd go awful. That kind of thing.

I can only imagine, it must be difficult to work on pieces that are doomed from the start..... Creativity and experience are essential to temper each other, aren't they? You might be out of a job, if it were any other way.

[He smiles, sheepish but so very happy.] Heh. Yeah, pretty much. I'm still workin' on those, but I'll be good enough someday. Shop ain't mine yet so there's time.

[Creativity he honestly has more than enough of, but he's still faintly sheepish about his creations yet.]

There's no question of that, so long as you keep practicing and improving. And you'll certainly have enough commissions to keep yourself busy here, won't you?

And workin' in the tailoring shop too, but yeah, I've gotten a few side things. A couple dolls and some clothes. Heh, if it keeps up I'll have loads of practice all the time.
