[ Alto is sitting at a large table in one of the open rooms. His sleeves are tied back as if he's about to do some work, which exposes the tell-tale signs of the ink creeping past his elbows, though his hair is loose and covering his neck. From the way he gives the device a short, but intentional look, it's obvious the feed is intentional (this ( Read more... )

I'm. Uh... bigger now. Not taller, just bigger. They told me I was seventeen but no way a whole year passed!

[Kanji peers curiously at the paper.]

Maybe origami paper or something? Some of that's pretty thin--

[ He will... not take that the wrong way (though part of his mind does go in that direction for half a second). ]

So, wait, you... aged? Did they put you in stasis or something? [ Could be possible -- it might explain some of the disorientation and haziness from waking up. This place doesn't seem to be capable of that level of technology, though, on the surface. ]

I... I don't remember aging, but Ma always said I'd fill out eventually. And yeah, I guess I have. I don't have a damn clue how it happened though.

Statis isn't supposed to allow that kind of behavior, unless something went wrong. [ He groans. ] That just doesn't make sense.

None of this place makes any damn sense. Wish I could tell you one way or another, but they ain't telling us anything.

Nothing really important, anyway.

I can agree with that. It figures they won't want to go giving up any secrets.

They're a bunch of bastards is what they are. They make it hard as hell to stand up to 'em too.

Maybe, but it's still good to hear about people who want to resist. I mean, did they really think that this kind of a deal was fair?

It ain't. I didn't even say the wish; I knew better. Things powerful enough to grant wishes... you really don't want them to grant 'em.

"Be careful what you wish for", right? Tch. Them taking advantage of people like that is the worst thing.

No kidding. I'd... I wish I knew how to fight 'em. It ain't so simple as pounding faces in and stuff.

Heh. If only it was that easy. Even if they didn't burn my gun, I doubt it'd do much, and more so I doubt I'll ever see it again. [ Since he knows the meaning of 'appropriate behavior' for this house, and doesn't care much for it. ]

They only burn clothes. I dunno if they'll give back a gun, but they give back anything else that isn't clothes.

--they will? I could get the earring back. [ This guy seems to know, so he might as well ask. ] How?

By not misbehavin' too much, I guess. 'least that's what old man Ino said when he started giving my earrings back.

[Yes, he calls the head of house something insulting.]

Tch, figures. I almost thought there would be another price -- something measured in yen.
