Hey, that part's not your fault, so don't apologize. [ Though he does sigh. ] I've been... busy, one way or the other, but I managed.

Well, I'm glad to hear that. Hopefully, my new rank will take some of the pressure off you.

Maybe... [ Sighing. ] I don't see how he runs the place with so little in the way of actual employees. Seems like it's almost not worth it; not that I get the business side of it.

...I guess we're technically "exotic" but I think, in my case, it's going too far. This is pretty much nothing like home for me, so how did they think I'd adapt?

I imagine the same can be said for many of the outsiders.

Yeah, but by my figuring, my friends and I are all a little over a century in the future compared to what kind of era this place is set in. That makes a huge difference.

I met a woman not too long ago - at that dinner party - who seemed to be from the future, as well. She mentioned something about...people being born from tubes, or something like that?

[ Blink. ] ...really? Well, that kind of technology is possible for us, too, but that's always been pretty controversial.

[fox_shuuichi]

Yes. Her name escapes me at the moment, I'm afraid, but it was certainly surprising. Such technology must come from far in the future - at least, in comparison with where I came from.

[He smiles a little.]

So, at the very least, you're not alone in your feelings of confusion over how to adapt.

Sounds like I'll have to keep an eye out for her. Pick her brain when I get a chance. [ Since someone from a time with a comparable level of tech should be able to be of good use for any escape plans. ]

Hm. I guess, but that isn't much of a consolation. We're all stuck here, one way or the other.
