I was scared for sure, but I couldn't keep away from the windows to see what was coming at us. XD It was so intense. I definitely do not want one to come into contact with my house though. @___@
I had the same thing happen about a month or so back (reading this reminded me that I forgot to write about it) and it was so surreal seeing such a aqua-green sky and the clouds all coming together RIGHT above me and starting to spin. Luckily (for me, not for those north of me) it didn't touch down where I was.
Minus the destruction they cause and those they hurt, they are otherwise really neat.
I'm glad you pointed out the destruction they cause because I don't want it to seem as if I'm ignoring that part about tornadoes. I know that surreal feeling you described because I could see the clouds being pulled in towards the rotation. The lightning was very scary and I'm truly glad that the storm didn't kill anyone (that I am aware of). My brother was driving through the storm because he didn't keep an eye on the weather, so he witnessed some of the bad flooding first hand.
I bet you see storms of that caliber on your side of the state much more often than I do.
Actually, I've never seen, nor heard of a tornado being in my area before the incident a couple months back. The most we've ever gotten was thunderstorms (or snow storms) at best.
But yeah, It was definitely neat witnessing it start to form though.
I was scared, I admit. lol I'm sure if I lived in a state where tornadoes were more frequent that I wouldn't care for them as much, but I have never seen the sky look like that over here.
Well I Am In Ohio. And If You Don't Like The Weather, Wait 10 min. It'll Change. Right Now Tho I'm Roasting My Butt Off. My AC (Air Conditioner) Broke So I Have No Cooling Air Just A Window Fan. GRRR. Hot Bear Is Never Happy.
So I guess your roof isn't leaking and you aren't going to spend the day calling roofers like me -_-;
But yet I count myself lucky to not have been among the people evacuated to the high school, got trapped in cars, be without power, or have their homes flooded.
