This week I finally went to 911 Media Arts Center for a meeting of the Seattle Dorkbot chapter with a coworker/friend of mine. They were screening a collection of documentaries and showed one on the work of Theo Jansen. It was seriously mind blowing and totally inspiring.

his stuff is so cool. i heard about this a while ago, but didn't realize that they sort of reminds me of something out of the dark crystal until you mentioned feature films. actually, someone should put a herd of muppets out on beaches to live their lives.

Yeah, I can definitely see that correlation and it's kind of what I was thinking of as well. I almost always like movies more when they use puppets or physical creations over CG. Naked Lunch is a great example; it would have totally failed with CG Mugwumps/Typewriters etc.

I am picturing Kermit, sun bleached and aged crawling along a beach, wrinkled albino Muppet jerky.
