Title: A View from the Gallery

Notes: Heero (pilot) and Relena’s wedding, seen through the eyes of five dead men.
Doctor J
I warned that girl to keep her distance from him. I told her that he wouldn’t let anything get in the way. Did she listen? No, obviously not, and somehow she got through to him. Ruined him. Everything could have been over so much sooner if he’d just stayed focussed. We certainly wouldn’t have had that silly little uprising that Treize’s brat was behind.
I suppose I should be grateful that she taught him to embrace his own humanity, but really, why do no-one listen to my warnings? Did. There’s no-one to hear my warnings now, ha-hah.
Those two are too alike, I don’t know how they manage to get anything done - both put the other first until they walk backwards. I figured we’d see Godot before we saw this day.

So this is the boy she left her own party for. This is the boy who turned her head around. This is my replacement.
Fair enough, she loves us differently, but I used to be the most important man in her life. She used to look to me for guidance. I protected her. Now he’s doing that - but he only protects her physically.
I shouldn’t have told her about her heritage. She somehow got it into her head that she had to save the world, and that little brat doesn’t have the wits to stop her before she destroys herself. I don’t know how my wife can approve of him. He won’t shelter Relena from the storm - he’ll drag her into the heart of it. Or she’ll drag him, and I don’t know which is worse.
Odin Lowe
Damn, kid, why did I ever bother teaching you how to hide in plain sight and avoid attention if you were going to throw it all away and marry the most prominently featured woman in the media all over the entire ESUN? I know I told you to follow your heart, but right now, I think your heart is stupid.
King Peacecraft
It’s not enough that she dissolves our kingdom, renounces our name and starts practicing ‘practical pacifism’. Now she has to go and marry a commoner, a family-less no-name colonial nobody? And Milliardo, you’re giving her away? Disappointments, both of you.
Heero Yuy
So, here we have them. My spiritual heir and the boy who inherited my name. Two impressive children who have grown into two impressive adults, who seem to base their relationship on mutual admiration and respect, who will support each other without stifling, who are willing to risk public disapproval and brave one another’s different worlds because they happen to be happier with each other than without. She helps him be a human being, he helps her to not drown in her own idealism, and both of them think the other one is the most amazing person in the world.
That’s quite adorable, really.
