Holy shit.
- Moffat seriously just managed to cheat death without making it feel like a cheat or a plot hole (except for the 'why did the ship regenerate?' factor, but I'm going with 'it LOOKED like it was regenerating because its a very advanced ship and its GOOD at that'). AND THE DOCTOR WAS THERE THE WHOLE TIME. So everything he said HE said and we don't lose any character development.
- I feel like I understand River's character way more now. Like I feel like I understand how she got from the end of Let's Kill Hitler to where she was when she was in prison.
- Winston Churchill is Caesar. And he has a Mastodon.
- Damn, Amy, I to kiss you so bad right now. Why is it so hot when you kill someone?
- ...Rory, you too, you sexy stoic bastard.
- Though, really, Kovarian, are you sure the Doctor would save you? I mean, he might, or he might not, but if he did I feel like it would kind of only be so he could cause you vast amounts of extended pain. He is cruel when you piss him off.
- Speaking of which, he really is cruel in this regeneration. I kind of love it. Like I love that he's blatantly a bastard instead of a bastard who doesn't know he's a bastard. But I mean, that thing he said about River embarrassing him? That was really cruel. I mean I know she was being a psychopath, and just generally really selfish, but wow. And I loved his thing to Amy and Rory about 'I hope you're proud'.
- Oh, I just realized why its so hot what Amy did to Kovarian, other than the badassery and the protective mother thing: She finally reacted to losing her baby, and in a way that lends credence to my theory that she was repressing and basically in denial before.
- And I can see Amy as River's mother now! FINALLY, IT WORKS IN MY HEAD.
- How is it that this episode is so incredibly funny and amazing?
- Did I mention that the loophole in his death is exactly the sort of loophole the Doctor would find and exploit?
- DORIAN.
- I am a bit disappointed the little boxes didn't make him angry.
- CHESS GAME.
- Was that a short version of the Time Lord marriage ceremony? Cause if so, awesome, and I'm standing by my theory that the long version involves something like twelve days, 336 witnesses, and a banana. And I'm going with the theory that the Doctor was taking it as read that River consented to the marriage.
- It seems to me that after she got married, instead of her life becoming all about the Doctor, River sort of got the closure she needed for her life to STOP revolving around the Doctor.
- Rory didn't die :)
- Nicolas Courtney tribute-thing was lovely, especially since it made perfect sense for the characters, I thought, that the Brigadier's death would make the Doctor say 'Okay, I'm done. I'm old. Its time.'
- I LOVE THIS EPISODE.
Much as I loved this, I am SO ready for a break from the arc plot. Its bloody exhausting.
