Okay, I bite. For what do I need/can use Tumblr? I've heard the squee about it that there are a lot of gifs and pics there but, what can I do with it? Are there comms out there like on LJ/DW? Fic? Discussions? And so on?

I'm completely new there, so I'm only just figuring things out for myself, but I think it's something between Twitter and LJ. It's an easy (and fast) way to post pics/vids/links/quotes/opinions and more.

You can follow people you're interested in, reblog any posts you like and/or favorite them, and track tags to any topic you like (Tumblr even shows you when there's a new post for a tag you're tracking). I mainly joined there for getting to stare at pretty pics all day. ;-)

You could (for example) use Tumblr to quickly post a screenshot you've made (or hundreds) and share it with people, or post a new promo pic of Season 3... I'm sure you can do a lot more things there, but I haven't gotten much farther than squeeing at pics yet. :D When you click on my Tumblr-link, you can see what I've favorited (stuff I like) and reblogged until now.

I'm not sure if I really want another site to keep up with. I'm already having trouble to keep up with LJ, Facebook and Goodreads (and the few times I check DW and AO3)...

LOL, believe me, I know what you mean. *g* I mainly use Tumblr to cheer myself up, whenever I need it - the good thing about it is that you don't have any work with it once you've figured things out. You don't have to post anything, reply to anything, or do anything at all but stare at things you like.
