Your warmth and glow are among the things, I'm guessing, that keep your friends your friends.
I'm guessing you have a DPoA/AHCD, which my sister does not, and I am having the fun of trying to protect her financial life while the doctors and nurses are working on her physical life. She too had bariatric surgery in 2000, as you may recall, and they have to do some CT scans to find the right place to put a feeding tube in. We're not even talking Vs&Ms, just Ensure.

hi sweet gwebbyfriend. i've been thinking about you and glad you are home from another hospital stay and with the wonderful Big Jeff and sad that you are still in so much pain. Are you sure you should be coming up here this weekend? as much as i would love to see you (and have you at our wedding) and as much as kurt would like to have you be a part of his red cord, maybe you should stay home in the care of your partner and take it easy? unless you think being amongst the df tribe might be in some way healing for you? love you muchly and sending you love and energy as always.
