I've decided that, by this time next year, I'll be moved into my own studio apartment. It's going to be a major bitch to pay for, and I'm still not sure how I'll come up with $1200 a month to pay for all my bare necessities (including food, rent, and, heaven forbid, the INTERNET??), but I'm determined to do this! That's how I felt right before I moved out. I mean ... it's your home, but once you reach a certain point, you start to feel like you're more like a guest who has overstayed a visit.
But hey ... people totally give you free food and junk when they know you're poor! *nod* Sometimes. And you could probably get by with less money on the grocery bill. $150 (~$180 CDN) is what me and my bf spend on food a month for both of us, and we eat pretty well.
You have to pay for trash pickup? O_o Guh, lots of random expenses. But having a little space to call your own is definitely worth it.
