Yeah, so, phrotus thinks I'm completely retarded because I've been using it with a negative connotation, thinking that the "A" means something like "Asshole"--granted, saying "Fuckin' A" when the "A" stood for "Asshole" seems like you're censoring out the less offensive part of the phrase, which I never understood, but whatever; I use it anyway, on

I've only ever heard it used in the positive way (and emphasized like the Urban Dictionary says - "Freakin' A", with the A meaning a grade or something). BUT... no one here actually says it on a regular basis, so my positive vote could be useless. I've heard it in a movie or two, and a friend who somehow picked it up says it sometimes. Positive or negative, the entire saying sounds weird to me. :o

When I was a freshman in high school, I said "Freakin A!" [in the negative way that you described] in front of my dad. And he got mad at me. Mind you this was before I was allowed to start saying swear words, so he told me, "That's about as close as you can GET to saying bad words." I wanted to argue with him but I decided it was best not to. I don't regret not trying to defend myself. :P

Take it from my dad. "Freakin' A" is definitely for bad things. Trust me, I almost got in trouble for it! :P

Welll, I mean, people say four-letter-words for good things too though, like how you would hear "That was fucking awesome!"--ohcrap, maybe that's what the A stands for? "Freakin' A" = "Fuckin' Awesome"???
