Sickness update

I went to the doctor today and was given a 10-day run of amoxicillin. She didn't give me a "reason" for my coughing, just told me to keep taking Robitusson/Vicks type cough syrups on my "approved to take" list. I DO have a (and I'm quoting the doc) "nasty" ear infection. I can't really hear much of anything out of my left ear and it has a constant ( Read more... )

ah! yuck! that doesnt sound good. Im glad Im not pregnant... I know how you feel about the whole hearing thing. I went to a concert last night, and I cant hear in my left ear to well and it feels like...well like you described...have earplugs in.

I don't know much about ear infections, so I can't really help you there...
well I got to go, i have a lot of reading to do.

Thanks! Hope you can hear soon too! I've never been to a concert where it was so loud that happened! But then again, I haven't been to too many concerts either.

Ooh, I used to get ear infections all the time. The doctor said I was really weird, because most kids stop getting them around four or five, and I had my last one at twenty-two. I think that was the one where the doctor knew I was so familiar with the symptoms that he didn't even bother to have me come into the office. I called him up, told him that I thought I had another ear infection, and he just called the prescription in to the pharmacy. Totally awesome ( ... )

Hmmm. Sounds like the prescription might just do it then! I really, really hope so. I want the cough to go away too! I produces sometimes, but not usually. And when it does, it's either pale yellow or white. I have NO IDEA what it is. Argh. it doesn't seem the same as the bronchitis I had before though.

Mercifully I've been spared ear infections so no advice. Hope it clears up soon. It sounds just miserable.

Try resting the ear on a damp washcloth that is laying on a heating pad. Also, keep up on the decongestants. Seems like ear infections and sinus infections go hand in hand.

I'll try something like that. Sounds like it might make it hurt less at any rate, though with the continued coughing it might just be impossible to get the ears to not be irritated. THanks for the advice.
