Exchange Rules

Dec 12, 2010 14:24

Guidelines
1. By signing up, participants are committing to write a fic of 1000 words or more. This is a significant commitment, so if you don't think you will be able to finish, consider volunteering instead as a pinch-hitter.

2. The exchange is anonymous until posting. Please respect this by not posting your fic anywhere else until authors are revealed at the end of the exchange.

3. Please read the sign-up form carefully and fill out all components with as much detail as possible, but try to give several options in order to make it easier on the person who receives your request.

4. When you have received your assignment, please reply to acknowledge receipt. If, for whatever reason, you don't feel able to write the fic you have been assigned, please let the mod know. Because assignments will have already been sent out by that point, changes will only be made for legitimate reasons-this is why it is important to be specific on your sign-up form.

6. If you find yourself in need of an extension for whatever reason, please contact the mod as soon as possible. Real life happens, and there will be room built in to the challenge to provide for these situations. If you need to drop out, please contact the mod so that arrangements can be made to secure a pinch-hitter for your request.

7. In an effort to respect the personal circumstances of all authors, the mod will remove fics at author request once the master list for a round has been posted. However, except in circumstances where the author requests otherwise, a notice will be posted to the community one week before removal to give gift recipients and other readers a chance to save a copy of the fic pending deletion.

Submissions
1. All fics must be 1000 words or longer. You don't need to write verbatim to the request, but an effort should be made to incorporate as many elements as possible. If your request specifies a certain rating, the fic may not go above that rating.

2. All fics should be beta read. The mod reserves the right to ask for corrections to be made if the fic is illegible.

3. Fics must be coded will all necessary HTML before submission. This means that all italics, bold, etc. must be in the text file that is sent to the mod. Otherwise, this formatting will not appear in the final post. (Exceptions go for chapter and length cuts, which will be included as needed during posting.)

4. Please avoid writing a WIP fic if at all possible. It's understandable if the story runs away on you, but three months is a long time, and the fic should be planned accordingly.
