I wasn't going to read this yet (I saw it on ff.net, but I'm already reading so many WiPs). Looks too intriguing to pass up though, and now it's on LJ, which is less of a hassle to leave comments on...

Anyway, I like this first chapter and Ianto's awareness of everything around him even as he keeps himself in the background. To have kept Lisa hidden for so long he would have had to be aware of everyone's routines and movements within the Hub, so it's good to see that in practice. Also interesting to see a bit of his life away from work, something that was frustratingly never really touched on in the show since we never saw where he lived.

Do you mind if I friend you so I don't miss a chapter?

I certainly can't fault you for that, as a reader. I know I do the same -- it's hard to keep up with a lot of WiPs.

Ianto was one of the most fleshed out unfleshed out characters I've ever encountered -- just when you thought you were getting to know something about him, it's null program, return to zero. It's fascinating. So while I agree to your frustration, it does give us a wonderful playground, doesn't it? I'm really looking forward to playing with it more, glad you liked the chapter.

Ooh, I like this. Wonderful characterization. I like how Ianto anticipates that everyone will be hyper-alert after Suzie's death, yet is clueless as to why Jack's telling him about Gwen. Ianto certainly is a man of contradictions at this point.

Ianto is very fun to write, he's got so much potential -- makes me think they were almost afraid to write solid facts because they knew we'd have so much fun filling in our own ideas.
