I've heard next to nothing about the dude, other than the fact that he's german, so maybe I'll be able to understand when he's giving public speeches now? Heh.
And strangely enough, for a non-catholic, I have to agree with that last part. I'm all for temporal society and it's needs/wants/whatthefuckever, but anyone who doesn't recognize the church as a well-established...uh...establishment...is fooling themselves. Kinda silly to decide about a thousand years down the road to turn around and start heading another direction. John Paul II made some very unique impressions and progressions, so we'll see how Pope Benedict XVI handles it.
Lord knows he's got a few major things to deal with as is. Good luck to 'im, I say.
