Elizabeth von Arnim's All the Dogs of My Life, a slight but charming memoir.

• What did you recently finish reading?

I just finished my nth reread of Mansfield Park, and I appreciate Fanny more every time I read it. I commented on my GoodReads review thusly: I think I empathized especially strongly with Fanny

Firebrand bored me, actually. I kept liking the airships and worldbuilding and desperately wishing we'd see more of them, but I found the protagonist flat and uninteresting, like she was trying really hard to be witty and not making it. Good clothes, though. And what happened at the end? Boyfriend believed they ran away together, though the awesome cousin said not; was he just pissed off enough to come duel about it anyway, or ???

Yeah, the ending was a little odd motivation-wise. Maybe awesome cousin and sister talked him into it? I did like that he instantly believed Kadia, though, and they didn't go down the Big Misunderstanding path.

Lady Elizabeth's Comet is by far the best of the Simonson Regencies, but it's also one of THE best Regencies ever, in my opinion. Glad you found it--and liked it!
