• What are you currently reading?

Seanan McGuire's A Local Habitation, having finished Rosemary and Rue yesterday. I don't find these as instantly absorbing as the Incryptids books so far, but I wonder if they'll eventually be more so; the potential for deeper characterization seems to be there.

Joseph Ellis's First Family, on John and Abigail ( Read more... )

FWIW, I skipped straight from Rosemary & Rue to Late Eclipses after reading some reviews that suggested that's where the series gets good. I enjoyed Late Eclipses and don't feel like I missed anything important. (Waiting for library to produce One Salt Sea now.)

I enjoyed the first two reasonably well, so I probably won't skip, though I too had heard that the series got good later (which I look forward to!).

I found the Toby books instantly absorbing, but ODed on them and take a long break around Late Eclipses. There's only so much beating up on favorite characters that one can take at a time. :)

I don't recommend skipping forward; you will miss out on characterization if you do so.

No, I'm liking them enough that I don't think I'll skip any. I was planning to string them out a bit, though, at least until the new one comes out in September.
