Peter Collingwood died yesterday.

When I started weaving, he was to weaving what Janet Arnold was to costuming - that reference that everyone looked for, and the basic you gave people when they first started.  Not historical weaving, per se, but the basics.

Sigh.

How very sad. But at least he has left behind many tasty publications for those who come after to learn from and enjoy.

His innovation and wild enthusiasm for all things-string will be missed.

I remember trying to find the Collingwood book before it was reprinted, and being ecstatic when it was.
