All the dead guys we read lived terrible lives. The ones who talked about freedom had slaves, the ones who were obsessed with morals supported forced child labour, and my favorite philosopher put his children into an orphanage that had a 20% survival rate for no reason. Actually, all my profs are really great. And they don't tell us we have to believe anything we read or anything they tell us. They aren't driving me crazy, it's the idea that so much of our current consciousness has been created by these people who couldn't even live their own lives. Even mother teresa may have embezzled from her own organization, no joke. I just want someone I can believe in. and don't tell me to believe in myself, that's not good enough.
