It looks like Yahoo! has sold Delicious. The part of the deal that makes me feel a little ooky is they are folding the service into their own company, AVOS. I'm not sure if that means it will no longer be called Delicious or not. I wouldn't mind the name change, I haven't been attached to the name since they removed the periods ( Read more... )

*rocks back and forth* As long as I get to keep my bookmarks (sooo many bookmarks) I'll be okay I think. Still, all this changing hands and the scare a few months back gets me a little nervous.

Makes me a little nervous too. Esp the bit about how they want to simplify it. I'm not really sure how much more simple Delicious can get without being completely worthless. I just hope they don't remove the ability to add a summery. I hate just links without really knowing what it's all about.

The scare did help it in the end. Yahoo! was going to just remove it without doing anything at all. You would have lost ALL of your bookmarks.

Still worried about it and I don't even remember how to access my delicious account anymore. I am pathetic with this sort of archiving.

I totally stopped using it once I heard Yahoo! was going to dump it. I only really used it as sort of a handy rec list.

I feel the same way. It's hard to get excited or care when there's really nothing to see.

I opted in since I figured what's the harm. I've exported my bookmarks to several sites. Plus I exported it again onto my desktop.

Fair warning. According to the FAQ.

What if I don't opt-in to migrate my bookmarks to AVOS?
You will no longer be able to use Delicious or access your bookmarks after the transition is complete.

I hope so. They seem really excited about it.

I'm more worried they'll gear it towards personal bookmarks and not this whole group book mark thing fandom has going on. I use the Hurt!Merlin tag to find things to read. I love that.

I don't think the name is changing. AVOS is just the company that owns it now.

I haven't done anything yet, because I'm waiting to see what other people think.

If they make any changes, I hope it's NEW things, and not removing things we have now.
