I hope to post more about my summers progress but lately I have been spending lot of time dealing with a very emotional friend.

In IM’ing with a buddy we had a conversation about dealing with ongoing issues in our lives and how to keep from having negative cyclical thinking that leads to feeling overwhelmed and depression.

I find this way of cataloguing your needs versus anxieties very intriguing. I wonder if it would work for me, or if I would ever get the time required to properly think it all through. I like the idea of resetting the compass, and the metaphor as life as a linear journey through space, even though personally I experience it as cyclical. Maybe I need to reset my internal centrifuge!

Thanks for posting all of that. I do something similar from time to time. It's an on-going process. I just do one problem issue at a time though and use a great deal of self-talk.
