You quoted Fran Lebowitz! ... And seem to lean toward self-deprecating humor. I would like to add you to my "friends" list. Hope this is okay with you.
Hi. I came here via Wyndham Lewis on your interest list, and while I generally don't care for defining oneself through dislikes, I have to admit I weaken when I see "not Stanley Kubrick" on an interest list.
Heh, awesome. Yeah, I really do hate how Stanley Kubrick is pretty much the director-of-choice for budding "film" fans. I mean there are many other directors, better ones, and hasn't Myra Breckinridge already taught us that it's not directors who matter but stars anyway?
Oh but anyway, I checked out your interests. "musique concrete" - "dalkey archive" - "heitor villa-lobos" - "john collier" - "henry green"? Too cool. Dude, I'm not worthy, but I'm friending you back yesterday. :-P
You probably ought to know, though, that while I know what I like in the arts, I don't tend to discuss it much, lest I sound like the horse's asses you describe in your posts. I'm an autodidact, didn't go to college, and have as a result great gaping lacunae in my erudition, especially in the classics. I'd love to have another life where I get to go school and learn Greek and Latin, for starters. (I went to a Catholic high school that didn't offer Latin, which tells you most of what you need to know about the school's quality.)
