It's noncon, ft. Uther taking an unhealthy interest in Merlin and Arthur sort of being a dick, before he remembers to be a hero and then there's some magic and angst and I intend for Merlin to wear a lot of black.
I'll need a beta though.

I'm writing, uhm, Susan Cooper Dark is Rising-verse. This is thanks to nicolasechs. I'm only a little way in, but I think the idea is to follow (somewhat loosely) Silver on the Tree, but from Arthur and Merlin's point of view.
Is this a terrible idea? I have an undefined feeling about all this. But it is coming in a great big storm of Welsh mountainside, so it appears I have no choice.
I am also happy to britpick, if that is at all useful.

I don't think following a set plot line is a terrible idea - many awesome stories have come from that. I don't know her work but I think someone rewrote it for the Sentinel and it was pretty awesome.
Ahhh, I looked up the books, and yeah, I think that sounds like a good idea! I'm looking forward to it!

I hadn't read the Dark Is Rising books since I was about 9, but I'm happy to have re-read them while on this mad New Year's roadtrip I'm on--Merlin has given them a fantastic new twist.
Merlin (Merriman in the books) makes a fairly significant appearance in the last book, but Arthur's participation is more minimal--he's got a son in DIR-verse, though, which Merlin spirited away in the night, along with Guinevere and sent to the future (!!!)--and I hope to fill in the large gaps that have been left open, focussing on the two of them.
So, yep.
Anyway: thank you for organising this, of course, and here's hoping my rubbishy moronness keeps at bay throughtout this!
