Things I will miss about geriatrics: the use of the word "demented" as a verb

Mar 08, 2009 22:28

I've been feeling out of sorts recently. I say that a lot on LJ, don't I? It is because I am useless and whiny :P

No, not really. Well, not that much. Am I? Actually, seeing as how I'm going gay and Greek later in this post, I think this Cavafy poem is a pretty good summary of the way I think I've been feeling lately.

Half An Hour - C.P. Cavafy )

# Philosophy of Science - The Central Issues - Martin Curd & J.A. Cover (eds.)
# Unsanctifying Human Life - Peter Singer
#Mortal Questions - Thomas Nagel
#The Poverty of Historicism - Karl Popper

any/all of these would be super awesome?

It was delicious, and I think that even if mum buys a new coffee grinder, I'll continue doing things this way. This is how i feel about pepper. I don't have the patience to handwhisk eggwhites.

According to OtherTom, April is the month where everyone breaks up.

i am somewhat disturbed by my reaction to your last sentence, which was, "nooo i dont want to break up" :/

That poem is a yes.

And it's weird you mention your lending of books, because I thought of you today when we got our reading for next week. Wittgenstein's Philosphical Investigation.
So there, someone thought of you today. (Also when discussing how many sex change operations someone could reasonably have.)

woah there mr gaunt. careful what conclusions you come to about australian literature-- it's a very large and diverse group.

i, like you, have read a lot of bad books which flaunt the fact that they are australian... but don't give up on it! sometimes nationality is incidental!

but intimidating. so just ease up. cos the people who are intimidated by the things you like and who you are will not be the people you'd like to 'settle down' with.
