Um, yeah. Way to turn Arthur against you, you great buffoon! Do you not remember what you did to the people you blamed for Igraine's death?

But yes: good stuff. I posted my own Uther-fic last night, so I'm a little enthralled to see other being posted so soon. We must have all been drinking the same water or something! ^_^

I really cannot decide how Uther would react to the knowledge of Arthur and Merlin...I just hope this is not it. I read your fic and remember thinking it was weird that we had both written similar stories. Yours was definitely happier though.

I already killed (and brought back) Merlin in another story. I can't bring myself to kill him again...

Your story leaves me with that haunted, tingly feeling and forced me to pull out my emergency bag of chocolate (my happy drug).

"...And then was shocked when the executioners axe fell on the empty block."

I'll just add that to the story in my head, OK? Damn, that was cruel of Uther. He really wants to his son to hate him forever.

I really have no idea what happened with this story. I originally intended it to have a happy ending but then....this just happned. I couldn't bring myself to write the actualy death though....I guess that was so that an ending such as yours could be added to it.

WTH is he trying to do, get himself killed? Honestly, that was probably about the dumbest thing he could have done... The smart thing would have been to have Merlin killed quietly, in the cells, then tell everyone he had escaped. Or, to not make a big production of arresting him at all. Just let him disappear. Then Arthur would be so distracted by trying to find him outside Camelot, that he wouldn't catch on to what really happened, and kill Uther in revenge.

Alright, so, I don't actually think that Uther should have killed Merlin at all... In fact, this story made me tear up a little bit. But still, Uther's arrogance at the end there was a bit staggering, to put it mildly. Very well done fic.

Thank you for your comment. I guess Uther wanted to make a point of it because he wanted to 'teach Arthur a lesson' or something. Uther is not known for thinking things through really so I suppose this was just another impulsive decision based around wanting his son to see how powerful he is.

Noooooo...!

So good, but so sad. Poor Arthur. Now he'll have to go marry Gwen and live in a loveloss marriage with the ghost of Merlin hanging over them all the live long day. :'(

You know, I think your comment was more depressing than the actual story.

But thank you all the same, I appreciate it.
