It doesn't involve religion till the end. Why insist on working backwards?

You're listening to Regina Spektor! Yay! :D

I agree with you about science and religion. Religion can be a great thing, but sadly it also makes some people stubborn and close themselves off from everybody and everything else. I personally don't think that the mythological aspects of religion are as important as the spiritual parts, but to each one's own. Furthermore I don't have a lot of sympathy for people who refuse to learn and educate themselves because it might prove their dogma wrong. If you are so absolutely sure of yourself and faith, then what are you afraid of? o.O As humans we have a natural desire to learn and reason, so why stifle that?

Religion and science should be able to work together. They shouldn't be ashamed of eachother.

You know I'm only familiar with her one song, 'Fidelity'? *blush* I've been meaning to download more of her songs, but everytime I try LimeWire acts up and won't give me back results! *pouts* But I absolutely adore that song!

Yeah, but on the other hand, a lot of athiests and religiously indiffent people also become stubborn and close themselves off and refuse to consider the scientific possibility that the world could have been created and designed.. simply because they are uncomfortable with where the ultimate conclusion might lead.

I think it is a huge misconception that science and religion don't get along. Science is a means of begetting truth, and if you are genuinely interested in seeking the truth.. then science is a friend, not a foe. And I think more and more people are beginning to see this.

A lot of what 'science' has become these days is just materialistic philosophy masquerading as science.. but I think with the rise of legitimate theories like Intelligent Design and Creationism, people are beginning to realize that science can and SHOULD reach beyond naturalistic explanations... I just hope more people begin to recognize that soon. ^_^

Don't think there can be a Naturalistic explanation mcubas76 April 18 2007, 19:42:54 UTC
If we stick to the physical Law that matter cannot create itself, it only transforms from one thing to another, then we can't posibly conceive any sort of beginning without some sort of higher being, force or whatever, with a capacity to create things out of nothing. So I wonder what interesting theories people with a purely materilistic mindset have come up with.... because I cannot think of any purely materialistic explanation.

Well there are actually quite a few theories on how the first living cell could have been naturalistically generated... random chance, chemical affinity, self-ordering tendencies, seeding from space, deep-sea ocean vents, and prebiotic chemicals assembling by chance... but not ONE of those can withstand scientific scrutiny.

Science doesn't have the slightest idea how life began. And the mindboggling difficulties in bridging the gap between life and nonlife and nothing to everything, is what is having so many scientists and scholars turning toward the explanation of a Creator and Intelligent Designer.

I think that people who believe that life emerged naturalistically need to have a great deal more faith than people who reasonably infer that there's an Intelligent Designer.

I LOVE the video to Fidelity it makes me want to have a colorful sand fight! *giggles* It's my "happy" song. I have the CD I can burn and send it to you. I like Hotel Song because she sings about cocane in a catchy way haha.

As for the God thing....It reminds me of a part in The Polar Express....Seeing is believing....but some of the most real things in life are the things that we can't see.

I have most of that movie memorized thanks to my niece
