I am told that that was a good gig. A bona fide classic, in fact. A stranger-dancing, crowd-attracting, woop-allocating classic.

I am also told that our rider consisted of 36 bottles of lager. I'm not sure how true this is, but I do know that I am very, very drunk.

I feel weak and ill.

I find that I perform better when I'm totally sober, although it took me a while to realize that. When I'm drunk (or heavily buzzed), I forget lyrics, slur vocals, flub chords, and get all sloppy. So when I play live now, I just drink soda before I play, and afterward I reward myself with a few beers. Or gin and tonics. Or whiskey sours. Or all of the above. :)

I'm definitely more emotionally connected to the songs when I'm sober, though. When I'm drunk, I'm just generally fucking around onstage.

We played sober - the drinks came afterwards. There was no way that we were having a repeat of last week's performance!

That's probably a good move (playing sober, drinking afterwards). I know I've had some really good gigs while I was drunk, but I've had some REALLY bad ones too.

How is Turn Your Head sounding when you play it live?

At first it was very shakey indeed. Because the lyrics have been rejigged so many times, I kept getting lost in it. The music's been generally great though, and I've capitulated and started using a 'cheat sheet' with some cue lines for it on.

I used to need all of my lyrics onstage once upon a time, so just requiring the one is pretty good going, I feel!

No new posts for nearly a week? Is this the beginning of the end for Stephen Bray's LiveJournal?

I've had spells like this before. Most of my words these days are being spent in lengthy email thingummies to Ms. Anastasia.

And I never like writing stuff out twice.

I guess I've also been haemorraging interest to facebook. Whereas, say, Whitby et al would have been written up here, it's more fun to just bung all of the photos up on facebook...
