It's a british (BBC) production, or at least partly. It and programmes like it are some of the few things still worth watching on UK TV.
The narrator in the UK is David Attenborough (you may have a different one, this sometimes happens). Most of us in the UK grew up listening to David narrating nature programmes, to the extent that his voice is now almost inseparable from such programming but at the same time unintrusive.
The cave episode was great for the bats though. Did you guys get the making of segments which showed the mountain of bat guaono, the cockroaches and the photographers?
If you watch it on regular cable, they give you about a minute of making of stuff. But if you have Discovery HD, it's broadcast with no commercials and they fill most of the leftover time with the making of segments. I did see part of the part you're talking about before I screamed and changed the channel because it was awful, lol. I have a pretty bad phobia about bugs - specifically cockroaches. I did not enjoy that part.
