I love that Williamson quote.
What you do is valuable. Your singing and performing allows others to step out of themselves for a little while and experience a fantasy life they could not otherwise have, and yet desperately need. Our work as performers is NOT trivial and it is more important than ever in times of hardship.

Even though I'm pretty groggy right now (the scotch has nothing to do with it - I basically have been singing for about 12 hours with a break inbetween for a nap!), I hear ya.
Funny thing -
after the first morning service today, a longtime congregant whom I recognized slightly stopped me as I was on my way into the choir room to use the facilities; in a very simple way, she thanked me for all the musical and spiritual gifts I've given her and the rest of the congregation over all the years I've been singing there.
Um,.... gee.
