I can picture your experience just as you describe it. Peace surprised you in a snow covered cemetary at sunset - how lovely! =) Ever noticed how much quieter things are when there is a blanket of snow on the ground? Acting as acoustic insulation, the snow absorbs sound and normally quiet areas are made even more peaceful.
I really love walking thru grave yards also. There is something beautiful about them. I like to look for the ones with stones on the top, it means someone has been there to visit. Sometimes, i put stones on old ones so they have someone who visits. I realize a lot of people find this a morbid thing to do, but I find it very serene and it makes me feel very ALIVE. I went to a great grave yard in Nebraska when I was 14. It had some very old graves. Also, on Long Island there is a fantastic graveyard in North Port by the water. It must be one of the oldest and ornate on the island. I stayed in a homeless shelter across the street from it when I left my husband and spent hours a day walking thru it and talking to the dead. I was happy to see such a peaceful reflective mood from you! I could be there with you and see it thru your eyes, in the winter snow, with maggi. Your cheeks and nose were very red and lovely wet snow flakes melted in your hair...
