I know it's nearly thanksgiving, but I finally got a chance to take pics of our costumes, all made from thrift store finds. Mike is "The barbarian" from Diablo III, and I am wearing 4 pairs of pantyhose on my chest and arms. This costume was nearly as much fun as my pirate costume when I was eight!

Great costumes - I've never had the imagination or talent to create such things, so I pretty much gave up on Halloween costumes when I was 12-13 or so and "cute little kid" costumes lost their appeal. ;)

Just thinking of the costume can take a long time. It took me six years to realize I should dress up as the character I'd been scribbling idly for nearly two decades.

It also takes a huge amount of time to build, especially if you can't use a sewing machine like me, so Mike and I will refine these costumes for several years. I built two pairs of fiberglass horns but never got around to incorporating them into the costumes. Maybe next year.

You and Mike look great.

Glad the Pharmacy classes are coming to and end - a new job is just around the corner ...

Sorry to hear about the Ranchero.

I had a lot of fun shopping at every thrift store in town all October. I was surprised at the quality of stuff at the very beginning of the month. Mike's hat was $4.99. My beard wig was $3.99 just a week before Halloween, and I had to trim it down by a third because it was too huge. I also used maybe 7-8 cans of spray paint on the fur, the sheet vinyl for Mike's pleather, my beard, and my chest. I always smell like chemicals on Halloween.

Not that I'm knocking movies, but your $3.99 beard wig looks real! It looks much better than alot of older movies that I've seen.

I twice got asked "Is that (the beard) real?"

Mike's costume had an unusual constraint, it had to conceal his urostomy bag yet allow for easy eptying, which required a bunch of fittings. Me, I'm glad it's a mental wetting, because piss would make my chest hair run. I'm meeeeelting, I'm meeeeelting!!

Aww...you guys are so cute in your costumes!

And I’m glad I’m not the only one who had fun as a pirate as a kid during Halloween.

My costume was an interesting investigation into a kind of inflationism- while this muscle suit doesn't inflate and is made of foam shaped with an electric knife, spray glued to a long sleeved T shirt and covered in pantyhose, there was always the very fun question "how big can I make it?"

If I were to do it again, I would make the arms much bigger up top, and be sure I didn't elongate the torso and detract from the barrel chested profile.
