sogging out

my bedroom is an absolute tip. So, I am hiding in the front room, watching the tv (How to Look Good Naked, cos I'd already seen the episode of Grand Designs that's on- and I'd seen the one that was on earlier).

I < 3 Gok Wan and we've all agreed he is lovely, so if you don't mind, I'm just going sog on the sofa and not do anything productive at

sog. it's a great word. it means to collapse in a heap on the sofa, to loaf around, to shirk responsibility, to sneakily read a book when there are productive things to be done. It's a bit like slob out, but without any derogatory connotations- it's an entirely respectable form of relaxation. I believe some family friends of ours came up with the word, but that's not to say it doesn't have some loftier origins. However, we checked the Chambers 20th C and it's not *properly* in there. So i'd say there's a fair chance it's made up. It's still a great word though.
