LA

In Los Angeles again.....this city is really wearing thin on me.
I can't see any reason to ever come back here again.
Looking at day trips out of the city but it is the weekend
so I'm sure traffic will be more hopeless than ever.

Shin Sen Gumi. It is enough for me to make quarter-yearly pilgrimages there.

Which one do you go to?
They all seem to be a fair distance from Downtown.

We usually try one of the many Japanese restaurants near Giant Robot on Sawtelle Blvd.
I guess I get a little overly snarky about LA.
I just hate cars, driving, parking etc....alot!

Went to http://www.takamisushi.com/ Saturday night.
Food was just ok for all the hype and price.
Service went from excellent to non-existent as the night progressed.

Tomorrow night we're going to try
http://www.mozza-la.com/

Tried the pizzeria Sunday and it was so good that we had to try
the restaurant.

They are some distance, but worth it (and not so much of a distance after driving 400 miles ;) )

Our favorite place is Yakitori in Gardena. We also go to the Shabu-Shabu place in Gardena, but prefer the sukiyaki. We've tried both the Fountain Valley and Gardena ramens. They only have one style of ramen (tonkatsu broth), but it is the best I've had on the west coast. We get it with hard noodles (the choices offered being hard, medium, soft), strong broth (strong, med, light), and medium oil (s,m,l) with a side of tamago and gyoza (which are hakata style). I will sometimes get the mentaiko on the side or the spam musubi or wontons.

We went to the Monterey Park location for yakitori/shabu-shabu and didn't think much of it.
