1. I've mostly been watching Chloe scenes this season (was giving up on it but then Chlollie happened). But what I've seen of Clois...they just seem kind of boring. Like they were thrown together only for the sake of finally being 'Lois and Clark.' I tried to see it but I can't see how people think they have 'amazing' chemistry.
2. I think AM and JH's chemistry is amazing...maybe it's me but I think that JH automatically steps up his game when he's acting across from her.
3. Exactly! That's the issue I have as well...I haven't liked Clark for a while now. He's a horrible friend and the choices he makes make no sense at all. I don't understand how anyone can defend him. Apart from the other problems, how could a guy who treats his best-friend of ten years like that be a good guy?...
I couldn't even seem to handle the season with just the Chloe scenes, though I'm tempted to follow your strategy for a bit to see where they take her arc. I agree on how boring Clois is in this incarnation. There's zero UST.
I suspect AM could drum up chemistry with a light pole. The only time I've seen her fail was AA, and in my fanwank world that's cause he was a closet Chlarker. ;) She definitely has a talent for bringing out the best in her costars. It's like TW and kids.
And yeah, I'm really sad that they managed to ruin Clark as much as they ruined Lois. What kind of Superman is that?
Clark is a completely different character, I swear. He was stupid before, but now he's just an ass. I really wish I could un-spoil myself and pretend the series ended after season 5.
I'm about where you are. I don't ship Chlollie like nuts, but I can enjoy it. Chlark is just joyless right now because I can't stand him. Last season, I hated Ollie, but I'm starting to like him as a character more than Clark. Of course, a brainwash/mindwhammy/eradiclark reveal could put Clark back in my good graces. Barring that, he is not my Superman. He's not even my Clark Kent and this show will have ruined him the way they ruined Lois Lane. As far as Lois, she's been dead to me for a while now. It doesn't even hurt anymore. I just turn away and groan with mild nausea.
They really have sucked the joy out of the Chlark scenes for me. I was even "meh" on the shower scene, which I would have been over the moon about a year ago. Chlollie is as fun to watch as it seems to be for the characters, so it's a nice break from the nausea.
I was just unprepared for the crapfest that was Clois in all its phoned-in glory. I never thought anything could be lamer than domestic Clana. I was sooo wrong.
I want Chlois, too. I just wish I had any faith in the bozo's in charge.
If it makes you feel any better, I believe series history predicts a Clois break-up. I mean, this is the longest they've ever managed to keep any non-married couple together -- they've got to be running out of happy 'ship ideas.
I tried writing some happy Chlark earlier and I couldn't finish it... I just couldn't imagine any way they could come together again in a way that didn't involve him crawling on his belly for forgiveness.
My only comfort is that those happy ship ideas are an insult to everyone involved. God, that is the most god-awful chemistry I've ever seen in two supposedly-romantic leads.
I hear you. I have a whole boneyard of half-finished Chlark, but I just haven't found a way to make Clark suffer quite enough to deserve Chloe.
Hee. You so called it on the cootie kisses. It was so badly lightswitched that it makes no sense.
Hypocrisy seems to be Clark's most annoying power these days. I hate that they had to tear his character (and the viewing audience's intelligence) down to prop up their crappy version of Lois Lane.
